My Pregnancy: Week 11

Week 11 of pregnancy: What happened to that pregnant glow? Exhaustion and body pain increases tremendously while my acne gets worse.

Oh my goodness my baby is already the size of a lime! It has grown a long way from when it was the size of a lentil, and I feel it. All my joints ache terribly this week. Even my elbows are sore. My hips are much wider than they ever were pre-pregnancy, and I’m sure that has thrown my balance off because my back seems to be taking the brunt of work (and pain) of moving my body. I have never felt such pain up and down the length of my spine in my life. Maybe it’s time for a massage?

I’ve been so exhausted this week that I have no idea how I’m going to stay on top of the housework, cooking, and this blog. I think I’m more exhausted somehow than I was at the beginning of the first trimester. Talk about overwhelming. I (thankfully) get to sleep 11 to 12 hours a night and I’ve been taking naps throughout the day. If I had to guess, I would imagine I’ve been sleeping about 15 hours a day. That is ridiculous. Thankfully my anxiety’s lessened. That’s a worthwhile trade-off, in my opinion.

My acne is getting ridiculous! I thought pregnancy was supposed to bring “glowing skin”? Ladies, I have to call BS on that. I have tried every natural remedy to get rid of acne. Manuka honey masks (since honey is antibacterial), the oil cleansing method (which worked for me before pregnancy), steaming my face, tea tree oil face wash and argan oil soap. Every method has made my face break out in a mass of comedogenic acne – and that on top of my horrible pizza face acne. Now I’m going to try a bentonite clay mask followed by pure aloe vera….we’ll see how that helps.

My poor dad got a head cold while travelling which means our early Christmas plans have been placed on hold. I’m actually pretty grateful because at this rate I’d be falling asleep during dinner. They say that the second trimester brings relief from the worst pregnancy symptoms. I can only hope that is true. If there’s one thing I would lessen it would be my acne.

Pizza face!

How did your pregnancy symptoms change for you as the first trimester ended? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
